If you have a decent budget, then spend it

• A bigger budget means you can have more than one entertainment option. Maybe have someone to greet your guests with music or a magic. Keeps everyone happy until all your guests arrive. If your budget doesn't stretch to ‘the sky's the limit' but you wanted a star – there are many tribute acts that are extremely convincing. But the ‘oldies' are not as expensive as you think, so you may get the original for a reasonable price too.

Do I need a big venue?

• You don't need a stage for many entertainers as they can mix and mingle and a stand-up comedian just needs a microphone and a corner to set-up. Obviously if you are going for full band or the bigger acts, then they need space for there equipment as well as themselves. Also worth remembering that you need a big venue if you are going for a big band sound – unless you want to deafen your guests.
